Listening to Tribes and understanding Tribal priorities drives our programs and services we offer.

Tribal Waste & Response Mentors

At ITEP, we know how helpful it can be for tribal professionals to learn directly from one another. While ITEP’s waste and response staff are here to help you, we also coordinate a variety of mentor activities where you can work directly with another tribal professional who has dealt with challenges you may be currently facing. As part of our mentor work we can:

  • Coordinate an online meeting between you and a mentor who may be able to assist you with your work. This could be developing a tribal Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan, creating an efficient and cost-effective recycling program, crafting new strategies for public outreach, or addressing any issues you may be facing in brownfields, UST, or Superfund programs.
  • Provide you with the opportunity to actually visit another tribe, or have a technical expert visit your tribe, and spend a few days working with a colleague to learn directly from new techniques to assist your programs. If you are interested, you can fill out the application below. If you are selected and visit another tribe, you will have all your travel expenses covered by ITEP.
